Cardio Equipment: Circuit Interval Training
You can get a much more intense and performance driven cardiovascular workout by using all (or some) of the cardio equipment in your gym in a circuit fashion – turning your boring 45 minutes of “marathon training” into interval fat burning performance training.How to perform cardio machine circuit training
There are several ways you can do this type of cardio machine circuit training.
Here are a few examples to spark your imagination.
Cardio machines chosen: Rowing Machine, Treadmill, Elliptical Machine, Stationary Bike.The Circuit:
- 1a -Rowing machine – 3 minutes
- 1b -Treadmill – 3 minutes
- 1c -Elliptical machine – 3 minutes
- 1d - Stationary Bike – 3 minute
Your rest time will be the time it takes to travel from one machine to the other and set it up – approximately 1-2 minutes depending on your gym.
Perform each station for 3 minutes and at maximum pace – as fast and hard as you can push yourself. Try to pace yourself so you are maintaining the same intensity for the entire 3 minutes.
Write down your time in your phone or log book and try to beat it next time.
Repeat this 3 times and that will give you 12 3 minute rounds of intense performance based fat burning cardio.Use your gym imagination
Above is just an example of how using your imagination in the gym you can come up with much more exciting – and most importantly – better benefiting exercise.
Try this technique with different rest intervals, longer/shorter intervals, different equipment and even against a partner!
